A door phone with camera, also called video door entry, shows you who is ringing before you open. An entrance panel with a colour camera is installed at the entrance and a monitor inside the home, from which you talk to the visitor and open the door.

Comelit systems work with 2 wires (BUS) or over a network (IP), in houses, flats and apartment buildings.

2-wire BUS or IP

2-wire BUS system

It needs only 2 wires from the existing installation, even if today you only have a simple doorbell. That is why it suits the replacement of an old door phone.

Door phone with camera for apartment buildings

In an apartment building, the entrance panel has one call button for each flat. In the ULTRA series each push-button module takes up to 8 calls and the frames hold 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6 modules.

Each flat gets a video monitor with camera or a simple audio door phone, as the owner prefers. Read more about video door entry for apartment buildings.

What to check before you choose

  • How many wires run today from the entrance to the flat.
  • Whether you want a handset or hands-free.
  • The screen size: 4.3, 5 or 7 inches.
  • Whether you want to answer from your mobile over WiFi.
  • How many flats and entrances there are.
  • Whether you want the entrance to open with a code or card.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, if you have a video door entry monitor with WiFi. For BUS systems there are the 4.3-inch Mini HF WiFi and the 5-inch PEOPLE WiFi, and for IP systems the 4.3-inch Mini HF WiFi and the 7-inch Maxi WiFi. Calls are managed from the Comelit app.

In Comelit systems the entrance panel and the monitors are connected by cable, either with 2 wires (BUS) or over a network (IP). On the models that have it, WiFi is used to send the call to your mobile.

On the Comelit BUS system 2 wires are enough, which is why it can also be installed on old wiring. On the IP system the devices connect over a network. See also the frequently asked questions about video door entry.
